The palace José Benito de Churriguera designed in 1720 for the financier Juan de Goyeneche, finished by his brother Alberto. Carlos III bought it in 1773 for the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, and Diego de Villanueva thoroughly remodelled it in 1774. The Academy is still there, with its museum.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
