The French-style garden laid out in the Retiro under Felipe V, the only part of his plan to remake the royal site that was finished. It replaced an earlier garden of eight paths, and its last remodelling dates from after the Civil War. It is entered by the Puerta de Felipe IV, opposite the Casón.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
