Medina del Campo

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Fair town and financial centre

In 1491 the Catholic Monarchs ruled that its fairs be the General Fair of the Kingdom, and in the 16th century it was one of the main financial centres of Europe. Isabella the Catholic died there on 26 November 1504, in the Royal Palace, and in August 1520 the town refused to hand its artillery to the troops of Carlos V, which brought on the fire known as the burning of Medina.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
