The university that Rodrigo Mercado de Zuazola, bishop of Ávila, founded in 1540 under a bull of Paul III, installed in this Renaissance building, a transition from Plateresque to purist Mannerism. Work began in 1543 and lasted a decade; Pierre Picart built the façade around 1546, and the courtyard has a double arcade and coffered ceilings of Mudéjar inspiration. It taught, with interruptions, until 1901, and the building now houses the International Institute for the Sociology of Law.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
