The Royal Arms and Munitions Factory that Carlos III ordered installed in 1784 in the Aézcoa valley, on an ironworks authorised in 1432, for the timber, iron and water of the area. Work on the new factory began in 1788; the French destroyed it, it was rebuilt from September 1800, and it worked, with interruptions, until 1884. Today it is a ruined complex on the Red List of endangered heritage, with the Palacio rehabilitated as a visitor reception point and interpretation centre.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
