The parish church that the tenth marquis of Los Vélez, Antonio Álvarez de Toledo, had built between 16 March 1767 and 13 May 1779. What stands out most is the portal, which echoes that of the Encarnación at Vélez-Rubio with lesser ambitions, and the brick tower. During the War of Independence Napoleonic troops burned it and destroyed its interior decoration, and only the structure survived; Leo XIII raised it to a minor basilica.
