The Renaissance palace that Alonso de Covarrubias designed in 1541, the year Ana de la Cerda bought the town. For legal reasons it was not finished then: the ashlar façade is restrained, with the legend «De Mendoza y de La Cerda», and coffered ceilings by Covarrubias survive inside. The Princess of Éboli died in it in 1592, and in 1997 the University of Alcalá bought it, restored it and completed it, with a courtyard designed by Antonio Fernández Alba.
