The new cathedral, begun in 1498 to replace the Old Cathedral: work stopped in 1578, resumed in the 18th century and was left unfinished. Enrique Egas, Juan de Álava, Alonso de Covarrubias, Diego de Siloé and Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón worked on it; the main façade, by Álava, was finished in 1558, and the side façade, attributed to Siloé, dates from 1538 to 1548. Inside are the choir stalls by Rodrigo Alemán and the Baroque high altarpiece by Gregorio Fernández.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
