Habsburg and Bourbon Spain

Reinosa

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Head of the Merindad of Campoo

Reinosa, head of the Merindad of Campoo and seat of its General Assembly, received Prince Juan in 1497, who came to meet his bride Margaret of Austria, and in 1517 it lodged Carlos V for nine days. In the 18th century, under the Bourbons, the Camino Real and the Ebro bridge made it a stopping place for Castilian goods on their way to the port of Santander. The tower, portal and dome of San Sebastián date from those years.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
