A palace of Andalusi origin, where the Marinid king Abd al Malik lived in the 14th century; of that time only the plan, the foundations and some underground passages remain. After the conquest of 1485 it passed to Captain Melchor de Mondragón, whose coat of arms is on the doorway, and later to the Marquis of Villasierra; what can be seen is of the 16th and 18th centuries, with the early-16th-century facade and its two square brick towers, the 16th-century mudéjar patio and the 18th-century entrance patio. Since 2006 its visitable rooms have housed the Museo Municipal de Ronda.
