The church built between 1713 and 1729 over the sanctuary of Santa Elena, where according to legend a stranger left a miraculous Christ in a straw loft, at one end of the main square. It is Baroque, on a Greek-cross plan with a large dome on an octagonal drum and four corner towers topped with Madrid-style spires. The façades are of exposed brick with stone pilasters and cornices, and the main one has an altarpiece-style portal with Tuscan and Solomonic columns.
