The church laid out with the founding plan of the settlement in 1827, supervised by the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. The works, attributed to the builder Fabián González, ran from 1831 to 1837, stopped and resumed, and the church was consecrated on 11 November 1842; the left tower was never finished. It is Neoclassical and academicist, with a single nave of three bays and a Neo-Gothic high altarpiece.
