The college for poor students and artists founded by Archbishop Alonso III de Fonseca. In 1652 it was decided to move it and the present building went up on the south side of the Obradoiro square, with pure lines and two storeys, by an unknown author; into it was set the medieval portico of the old Hospicio de la Azabachería, dated between 1490 and 1500. It ceased to be a college in 1840 and since the 1980s it has been the Rectorate of the University.
