The seat of the municipal council, begun by Diego de Riaño in the last quarter of 1526 with a Plateresque front toward the plaza de San Francisco. The upper body went up between 1550 and 1561 and the upper chapter house was finished at the end of 1573. In 1866 the gallery of 1563 to 1564 was pulled down and replaced by a neo-Plateresque extension, and the Neoclassical front on the plaza Nueva dates from 1858 to 1867; it is still the seat of the city council.
