Santa María de Mediavilla, a church begun in 1171 that the Mudéjar master Juzaff reworked in the second half of the 13th century, gained in 1538 the Plateresque and Mudéjar crossing tower (cimborrio) that Juan Lucas Botero designed in 1537 and Martín de Montalbán built. It has been a cathedral since the 16th century. The tower, of 1257, ends in an octagonal lantern of the 17th century; around 1700 an ambulatory was opened in the Gothic head, and the Neo-Mudéjar south façade dates from 1909.
