Teruel

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Capital of the province of Teruel from 1833

Teruel, a city since 1347, built the Traída de las Aguas with the aqueduct of Los Arcos, raised between 1537 and 1558, and saw its parish church of Santa María become a cathedral. In 1572 the army of the Duke of Segorbe entered the city over the Alteraciones, and from 1808 to 1813 the French occupied it and blew up convents and civil buildings. In 1833 it was chosen as provincial capital.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
