A Franciscan monastery that the Catholic Monarchs began in 1477 with Juan Guas, in memory of the battle of Toro and the birth of Prince Juan; the church was finished in 1495. This card covers the parts after Guas's death: the reforms of 1496 by Enrique and Antón Egas, the sacristy of about 1500 and the cloister, whose upper galleries were completed in 1526. The fire of 1808 destroyed the second cloister, and from 1881 Arturo Mélida restored the complex and added the cloister's neo-Gothic crest.
