The palace that Juan Vázquez de Molina, Philip II's secretary of state, had built as a private residence, designed by Andrés de Vandelvira, between 1546 and 1565. It is arranged around a courtyard with white marble columns in the Genoese style, and its three-storey façade carries atlantes and caryatids. Part of it was the Dominican convent of Madre de Dios de las Cadenas; today it is the town hall, and its lower cellar holds the Renaissance Interpretation Centre.
