Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Town of Francisco de los Cobos and Vandelvira

After the end of the conquest of Granada, Úbeda had its greatest splendour, with a population of 18,000, one of the most populous in Spain. Francisco de los Cobos, secretary to Charles V, and his nephew Juan Vázquez de Molina filled it with palaces by Andrés de Vandelvira, and the emperor visited in 1526. The 17th and 18th centuries were a time of decline, with the plagues of 1585 and 1681 and the Lisbon earthquake of 1755.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
