The college that Fray Alonso de Burgos, Bishop of Palencia and confessor to the Catholic Monarchs, began to build in 1488 after obtaining the site in 1487; it went up until 1496 around a two-storey courtyard, and its façade is a retable in stone. The shields on the façade and in the courtyard were carved one before and one after the fall of Granada. Since 1933 it has been the main seat of the Museo Nacional de Escultura, and its remodelling ended in 2009.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
