Vélez-Blanco

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Town of the marquises of Los Vélez

Vélez-Blanco surrendered without a fight in June 1488, after the capitulations of Vera. The castle of the Fajardo family was raised over the Andalusi alcazaba, and through the 16th century the village spread over the slope and the church of Santiago was built. Between 1601 and 1615 Luis Fajardo had the convent of San Luis Obispo built, occupied by the Franciscan order until 1835.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
