Villacarriedo

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Town of the Carriedo, home of the Díaz de Arce

Villacarriedo already had a medieval tower when, early in the 18th century, Juan Antonio Díaz de Arce y Pérez del Camino, a diplomat of Felipe V born in the village, raised the palace of Soñanes around it, between 1719 and 1724. Beside the palace, the will of 1736 of Antonio Gutiérrez de la Huerta, administrator of the Cádiz customs, provided for a college of the Escuelas Pías with its church.
