The Baroque palace that Juan Antonio Díaz de Arce y Pérez del Camino, a diplomat of Felipe V, had built in Villacarriedo, his home village, around an old medieval tower; it was raised between 1719 and 1724, and who designed it is disputed. It has a monumental two-flight staircase and richly decorated façades with Corinthian, Solomonic and baluster columns. It was restored and turned into a hotel in 2001.
