The palace the Catholic Monarchs had built over the north wing of the taifa palace, with works dated between 1488 and 1495, and its throne room with a Mudéjar coffered ceiling and an inscription of 1492. Under Felipe II the building became a citadel designed by Tiburzio Spannocchi, whose moat and bastion bases can still be seen, and in 1772 Carlos III turned it into barracks. Today it is the seat of the Cortes of Aragón and open to visitors.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
