A Neoclassical gate built in 1789 by Agustín Sanz and opened in 1792, shaped like a Roman triumphal arch with a central arch and two smaller ones. It was one of the twelve gates into the city and now stands on its own, on the Paseo de María Agustín. It still bears the marks of projectiles from the Sieges of 1808 and 1809.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
