La Olmeda

Today: Pedrosa de la Vega, Spain

Years
301–409

A farming estate on the plain of the Carrión with two lives: a villa of the late 1st century that lasted until the crisis of the late 3rd, and another built afresh in the 4th, at its height between Constantine and Theodosius. The house of its owner, a landowner of classical culture, is what has been excavated; the dwellings of the people who worked the estate have not been found.
