Coracho

Today: Lucena, Spain

Years
409–711

The spot south of Lucena where in 2003, in the trial digs for the A-45 motorway between Córdoba and Málaga, a basilica and its cemetery came to light, beside the Roman road that joined Corduba and Malaca. It is one of the oldest Christian churches excavated in the peninsula: it was founded in the 4th century, in the time of Constantine, and remodelled in the 6th and the 7th. In 2005 it was taken down stone by stone and rebuilt on a council plot in the polígono de la Viñuela, in Lucena itself, where it has been open since 2008.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
