Riotuerto

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Concejo of the Junta de Cudeyo, seat of the Real Sitio of La Cavada

In the Ancien Régime the concejo of Riotuerto belonged to the tercio of Allendelagua, in the Real Junta de Cudeyo. Its history is tied to the Royal Artillery Factory of La Cavada, whose blast furnaces were built from 1635 to 1637 and which stopped working in 1835; the village of La Cavada grew up afterwards around the factory. Of the Real Sitio, the portalada of 1783 to 1784 and other remains are left.
